In this workshop, we generate a collective understanding of what accountability in practice looks like. We offer teachings from our own experience and learning from others in activist communities (including adrienne maree brown’s Emergent Strategy and We Will Not Cancel Us, Mariame Kaba, and Shira Hassan’s Fumbling Towards Repair). In addition, we offer a set of guidelines for how to identify and frame accountability buddy relationships--the grounding practice that adrienne maree brown identifies as relationships for“working on excellence” (WOEs) together. We request participants purchase the three books listed above before the workshop and follow the authors’ own teaching and writing on social media. When confirming your registration, we will suggest reading a few selections from these texts before the workshop!
